What Jesus Would Say to Donald Trump: Care for Others

Read:

Matthew 25:35-36 “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”

Think:

It's a fact that neighbors today don't talk to each other as much as they used to, and people avoid conversation on public transportation. This begs the question: what has caused this shift in social norms? Is it a fear of rejection that prevents us from reaching out to one another? The media has reported on numerous cases of elderly individuals who have lived and died alone, with nobody noticing that their lawn was becoming overgrown or that their mailbox was overflowing. It's a sad reality.

Despite the isolation and apathy that surrounds us, Jesus stands out as a model of kindness and selflessness. He consistently went out of his way to help those in need, performing numerous miracles and acts of kindness. His example shows us that we all have the ability to make a positive impact on the lives of others.

Although it may seem daunting to break through the walls of isolation that have been erected in our society, it's important to remember that small acts of kindness and compassion can go a long way in brightening someone's day and showing them that they are not alone. Jesus is our example and inspiration.

Apply:

You can make a difference in someone’s life today. Call a friend. Check on a neighbor. Write a notecard. Get creative!

Pray:

Jesus, use me as a catalyst for change in society. Help me to see others the way you see them. Give me compassion and the eyes to see the brokenhearted, the wounded. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
