But marriage doesn't work that way.
Most of us have heard the latest statistics on divorce. But the good news is that we don't have to become one of the statistics. Despite the numbers, we can still experience a marriage that lasts; one that will see us through everything-good and bad.
Marriage is the single most important human relationship we can ever be a part of. As such, it deserves our full-hearted devotion; which means it requires more than feelings. A healthy marriage doesn't last because you feel in love. A healthy marriage lasts when it is based on love. And the basis of true love is commitment-pledging yourself to a person, no matter what. Even as the romantic temperature rises and falls, the cold steel of commitment is the bedrock for any successful marriage.
This C2 Marriage Agreement underscores the importance and necessity of that commitment. By reading and signing this agreement, you and your spouse pledge yourselves to your marriage-no matter what. Commit to one another to do everything within your power to strengthen and sustain your marriage by pursuing God's plan for it. And during those times when you realize you can't do it alone, seek biblical counsel and support rather than looking for the nearest exit.
Remember, marriage is not the easiest thing. It's the hardest thing. But when you are willing to put your all into doing it God's way, you will discover that marriage can be the best thing!
